OnePlus has announced that OxygenOS is officially going away and eligible OnePlus devices will transition to Oppo's ColorOS. The announcement came via a community post on July 16. Now, OnePlus has opened the ColorOS 17 open beta for the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 13 series in India. So if you are wondering whether your OnePlus phone will get ColorOS 17, here is the full list of eligible devices.
ColorOS 17 Open Beta Is Now Live for OnePlus Phones in India
OnePlus has opened the ColorOS 17 open beta programme for 5 phones in India. Applications are open from October 9 to October 12 and it's limited to Indian units. This comes after the closed beta in August, which was limited to a few OnePlus 15 and OnePlus 15R users. Here are the OnePlus phones eligible for the ColorOS 17 open beta.
- OnePlus 15
- OnePlus 15R
- OnePlus 13
- OnePlus 13s
- OnePlus 13R
To apply, open Settings > About device and tap on “Up to date”. Now, tap on the 3-dot menu at the top-right corner, select “Beta program” and follow the on-screen instructions. Your phone needs to be on the latest OxygenOS 16 build to be eligible. For instance, the OnePlus 15 needs to be on CPH2745_16.0.10.500(EX01) or CPH2745_16.0.10.601(EX01).
OnePlus says this is an early build, so some features may be missing. You may also face app compatibility issues, lag, heating and higher battery drain.
Note that installing the beta should not wipe your data, but it’s best to create a backup anyway. If you want to go back, you can use OnePlus’ rollback package to return to stable OxygenOS 16, but that will erase all data on your phone.

OnePlus Devices That Will Not Get ColorOS 17
If your device is not on the list above, it's not expected to receive ColorOS 17. That includes the OnePlus 11R, the entire OnePlus 10, 9, 8 and 7 series, Nord 3, Nord CE 4 and Nord CE 4 Lite. These devices have already exhausted or will exhaust their major update cycles with OxygenOS 16.
That said, OnePlus has confirmed that devices outside the eligible list will not be abandoned. They will continue to receive bug fixes and security patches on their current OxygenOS build.
Why OnePlus Phones are Moving to ColorOS?
OnePlus says the move will let it deliver Android updates faster, since a single software platform means OnePlus' and Oppo's engineers are no longer maintaining two versions of the same OS.
OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau merged the OxygenOS and ColorOS codebase back in 2021 and the two skins have shared the same foundation since then. In fact, Chinese OnePlus models made the full switch to ColorOS years ago, so the global lineup is simply catching up now..
By the way, the switch to Android 17-based ColorOS 17 will be voluntary for existing users and OnePlus is also expected to offer a limited rollback window for anyone who updates and wants to return to OxygenOS. The company has assured users that the transition will not affect software update commitments, update quality, warranty coverage or after-sales service.

Of course, the latest development has fuelled speculation about the brand's future in India, especially after a report said OnePlus is planning to exit India by 2027. OnePlus has publicly refuted the claims and you can read our explainer on whether OnePlus is exiting the India market for the complete picture.
As for the timeline, Oppo has already started rolling out the stable ColorOS 17 update in China. The OnePlus 15 is among the first devices to get it. ColorOS 17 will be unveiled globally on October 13, 2026 and the stable update for Indian OnePlus phones could come after that, however, OnePlus is yet to confirm a date.
