July 2026 Google System Updates: What's New?
As part of the July 2026 Google System Updates, Play Services v26.28 brings a quick way to check your device's IMEI right from the lock screen. It also brings support for audio permissions in WebViews and new manufacturer tools for storage and subscription flows.
Meanwhile, on Android TV, it brings support for Android's Credential Manager, making passkey and saved-password sign-ins easier, including authenticating via your phone.
Play Store v52.4 focuses on search, bringing support for natural language queries, expanded search suggestions and a two-line search bar. Users can now also add an app's widget to their home screen during installation. Google is also limiting mobile data usage for app restores in India, Nigeria and Indonesia.
An earlier Play Store v52.3 this month improved the Play Store's layout on large screens and added an AI-generated image label in the EU.
The July 2026 Google System Updates also have something in store for developers. Android WebView v151 introduces an HTTP Cache Quota API, giving developers more control over how much cache their apps use, alongside security and privacy improvements.
Google also pushed smaller maintenance updates to Android System Intelligence, Private Compute Services and Android AICore this month, including better safety filtering for streaming AI outputs.
