The Honor Magic 9 series has gone official in China, consisting of the standard Magic 9 and the Magic 9 Super Edition. There's also the camera-focused Honor Magic 9 Pro Max, which leads the lineup. These phones focus on battery endurance, flagship processing and cinema-grade ARRI optics.
Honor Magic 9 and Super Edition Specifications and Features
Aesthetically, both the Honor Magic 9 and Magic 9 Super Edition boast a distinctive "Director's Eye" circular camera housing. Both Honor phones pack a 3D integrated cold-carved glass chassis.
The standard Magic 9 gets a 6.37-inch OLED panel boasting an FHD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It delivers an eye-blinding 10,000 nits of peak brightness and utilises 3,840 Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort. The Super Edition gets a larger 6.81-inch screen with the same specifications.
Both smartphones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, reaching clock speeds of up to 4.6 GHz. The performance is backed by up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage. Yes, only the top-of-the-line Honor Magic 9 Pro Max gets the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
Photography is where both phones differ. The standard Magic 9 packs a 200 MP ARRI primary rear camera, a 200 MP ARRI periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom and a 50 MP ultrawide snapper. The front houses a 55 MP 1:1 square sensor, the first on an Android smartphone.
The Magic 9 Super Edition replaces the 200 MP periscope with a 50 MP telephoto unit, and the 50 MP ultrawide with a 12 MP ultrawide. At the front, it gets a 50 MP regular sensor for selfies.
Fueling the internals of the Magic 9 and Magic 9 Super Edition are 8,000mAh and 11,000mAh Silicon Carbon batteries, respectively. Both phones support 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, while boasting IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings.
Connectivity-wise, both phones boast Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and a custom C3 RF enhancement chip. Security is handled by an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner on the Magic 9, while the Super Edition gets an Optical scanner. Both phones come with MagicOS 11 based on Android 17 out of the box.

The Honor Magic 9's base 12 GB + 256 GB variant is priced at 5,999 Chinese yuan (approx. Rs 85,000). Meanwhile, the Magic 9 Super Edition's base 12 GB + 256 GB variant costs 4,499 Chinese yuan (approx. Rs 64,000).
Both the Honor Magic 9 and Honor Magic 9 Super Edition are now available for pre-order on the official Honor China storefront and come in four colours – Yellow, Black, Olive and White.
