Motorola has begun rolling out the Android 17 update to its premium foldable lineup. However, in an unexpected turn of events, the manufacturer is now rolling out Android 17 to the Razr Ultra 2025, also known as the Razr 60 Ultra in other markets.
Posted by user ibejerdan on the razr subreddit, he claims that his unlocked Motorola Razr 60 Ultra automatically downloaded and installed the Android 17 update overnight. In the image, the firmware version is A171VLH.48-18-7.

The system changelog associated with the new firmware promises a "fresh, expressive design" alongside improved multitasking capabilities, smarter notifications to reduce clutter, and enhanced security controls.
For those unaware, the Motorola Signature has received Android 17, alongside the Razr Ultra 2026/ Razr 70 Ultra and some Motorola Edge 60 series phones. The update is expected to roll out to more Hello UI Android 17-eligible phones in the future.
While getting the latest Android version is usually exciting, the user notes that the rollout comes with some frustrating caveats. For starters, the installation process automatically re-enables the previously disabled Moto AI feature and forces a fresh installation of TikTok without asking for permission.
Additionally, the user also notes that the update introduces a minor graphical glitch on the cover display. The front screen's clock widget has shifted its position, overlapping awkwardly with the camera lenses.
The original poster recommends disabling automatic updates for users who want to avoid the update due to these issues. However, we have yet to see Indian Razr 60 Ultra users receive the update, which should happen soon, so stay tuned.
