Nothing OS 5.0 Launch Date Officially Announced

After sharing a Nothing OS 5.0 teaser just days ago, the UK-based brand has now confirmed the exact date the Android 17-based update will be launched.

The official Nothing X account has shared a teaser confirming that the Nothing OS 5.0 release date is scheduled for August 25, 2026, at 11:00 BST (or 3:30 PM IST).

Nothing hasn't revealed specifics about what the update will bring just yet, but the teaser itself offers a few hints. The caption "More joy, every day" suggests a stronger focus on personalisation, potentially meaning more widgets, icon packs and lockscreen clock styles.

The teaser video also shows animated gradients cycling through various colours with what seems to be a frosted glass look on top. This hints that Nothing OS 5.0 could bring more colourful visual elements to the interface than previous versions.

Moreover, this lines up with a Nothing Gallery app update that was rolled out last month. This was built around Nothing OS 5.0's design language and introduced live blur behind the navigation bar, updated icons and a new font.

So, we can expect to see a similar treatment expanded across the UI. Apart from this, we could also see some new AI features.

The Nothing OS 5.0 eligible devices is expected to consist of the following:

The original Nothing Phone 1 and Nothing Phone 2, along with the CMF Phone 1, could miss out on the Android 17-based update as all three phones have already reached end-of-life status.

Full details on the update, including the official eligible device list and beta program timeline, are expected to be confirmed at the August 25 event itself. Since the Nothing OS 5.0 early access registration has already started for the Nothing Phone 3, expect the beta update to roll out to the flagship first.
