This means that the upcoming foldables will become the first Samsung phones to ship with the Android 17 update. Since One UI 8 was based on Android 16, we can expect One UI 9 to be based on Android 17.
As for what the new One UI update will bring, there is no information on that yet. Samsung is still in the process of rolling out One UI 8.5 to all eligible phones. It is currently in beta and is expected to enter the stable phase with the Galaxy S26 series launch on February 25, 2026.
That said, since Samsung has changed how its update cycle works, we can expect minimal changes with One UI 9, with massive feature additions in One UI 9.5. We shall know more about the new One UI software in the coming months.
