OnePlus has started rolling out the OxygenOS 16.1 update for the OnePlus 15, bringing a refreshed UI, smoother animations and the all-new Live Space experience. The update is currently rolling out in batches to OnePlus 15 users in India.
OnePlus 15 Gets New Features with OxygenOS 16.1
OnePlus has announced via a community post that it's now rolling out the incremental 2.1 GB OxygenOS 16.0.7.201 update on the OnePlus 15. Although the build doesn't point to the release being OxygenOS 16.1, the changelog says otherwise, and includes all the features that Oppo recently introduced in ColorOS 16.1.

For those unaware, OxygenOS and ColorOS share the same codebase. Therefore, the new features in OxygenOS 16.1 are quite similar to those of ColorOS 16.1. Starting with the animations, which have been improved. OnePlus claims the system animations will now feel much smoother and more responsive.
Some of the AI additions in the version are a slew of new features such as AI Translate, AI-powered photos and AI-powered documents. The AI Translate feature will help translate menus with AI, with Live translation now being capable of generating automatic titles and AI summaries.
That said, one of the major additions in OxygenOS 16.1 is Live Space. It's an improved version of Fluid Cloud that was introduced with OxygenOS 14 and takes heavy inspiration from Samsung's Now Bar. OnePlus has shifted the Dynamic Island-like tool from appearing in the Notch to the bottom of the screen, making it more accessible.

Live Space accommodates both notifications and live activities, and tidies up your lock screen. Besides, while playing music, users can tap on the album art while on the lock screen to enter music focus mode. Here, the album art fills the screen, and lyrics appear on the lock screen for an immersive experience. Besides, switching between activities and notifications in Live Space is also much smoother and easier.
Lastly, OnePlus is also introducing new features in the Home screen where users can now organise it based on app colours or categories to find apps quickly. Besides, home screen layouts are saved automatically, and users can revert to previous layouts with one tap.

There are a handful of UI improvements and additions in the Camera app as well, including a Master preset to help users save their custom parameters as presets and a cleaner Camera UI. The battery stats setting page has also been upgraded to display more useful information, including personal hotspot usage.
OxygenOS 16.1 is currently only rolling out to the OnePlus 15, but should soon roll out to all OxygenOS 16 supported phones like the OnePlus 15R, the OnePlus 13 series and the OnePlus 12 series, including the mid-range Nord 4, 5 and 6 series. Until then, stay tuned.
