OnePlus 15R Confirmed to Arrive with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Chipset

After the OnePlus 15, it is now time for India to experience the OnePlus 15R. The brand has already started teasing the smartphone, and it is confirmed to launch next month. Now, the brand has also revealed that the upcoming phone will feature the latest Snapdragon 8 series powerhouse.

OnePlus 15R could become world's first Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 phone

Moments after the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset was announced, the official OnePlus India website has been updated to reveal that the OnePlus 15R will launch with the same Qualcomm processor. This makes OnePlus the first brand to incorporate the new flagship-killer processor and also have a product ready to launch with the SoC.

Moreover, OnePlus says that the 15R will become the first smartphone in the world to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. For those unaware, the new processor went live today, on November 26, 2025. It is an octa-core chipset with two prime cores clocked at 3.8 GHz and six performance cores clocked at 3.32 GHz. It features the Adreno 840 GPU, same as that of the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

So, there is no doubt that the OnePlus 15R is sorted when it comes to gaming and performance. Even on the durability side of things, the OnePlus 15R gains the same quad IP66 + IP68 + IP69 + IP69K water and dust protection rating as that of the more expensive OnePlus 15.

Also, just like the OnePlus 15, the 15R will also ship with OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16 out of the box. This will make it the second smartphone in India to bring latest OxygenOS 16 features like Flux Themes 2.0, Parallel Processing, fullscreen AOD, Mind Space AI and more. Other than that, leaks and reports suggest a 1.5K 165 Hz display, a massive 8,000mAh battery with 100W fast charging and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for the 15R.
