OnePlus 15R Teased to Launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

Qualcomm teased the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 at Snapdragon Summit yesterday as an affordable option compared to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Following the announcement, OnePlus has teased that its upcoming flagship will be the first to feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

OnePlus 15R Could be the first phone to boast Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

OnePlus took over Weibo and posted an image of an illustration of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 with text that translates to "The Chip King Returns and the new (flagship killer) king arrives". 

OnePlus has already announced that the OnePlus 15 will boast the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Therefore, chances are that the firm could be referring to the OnePlus Ace 6, which could arrive as the OnePlus 15R in global markets such as India. 

While information about the upcoming OnePlus 15R is very scarce at the moment, thanks to reports, we know of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 specifications.  It's an octa-core processor with 2x Oryon V2 Phoenix L cores clocked at 4.32 GHz and 6x Oryon V2 Phoenix M cores clocked at 3.53 GHz. The core setup suggests the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 is a rebranded Snapdragon 8 Elite.

OnePlus usually equips its Ace series with previous-generation flagship chipsets. However, the new Ace 6 (OnePlus 15R) could break from this trend by featuring the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5.

As for other specifications, we expect the OnePlus 15R to boast a 1.5K 165Hz AMOLED display, 12 GB RAM, and 256 GB UFS 4.0 storage. Going by the Silicon Carbon battery trend, the device could feature a 7,000mAh+ battery with 80W SuperVOOC charging.

OnePlus often unveils its primary flagship and its flagship killer R-series at the same event. With the OnePlus 15 launching in October 2025, details about the OnePlus 15R could surface any time now.
