It has not even been six months since the OnePlus 15 debuted and we are already hearing things about the next-gen OnePlus 16. The latest OnePlus flagship debuted a lot of firsts for the brand, but it looks like the next iteration will take it up a notch with impressive camera hardware and exceptional performance.
OnePlus 16 Key Specifications Surface
As per a new Weibo post from Digital Chat Station (DCS), the upcoming OnePlus 15 successor is set to pack impressive camera hardware along with the expected flagship-grade performance boost. In addition, the OnePlus 16 could set a new benchmark with a 200 MP periscope camera lens, finally making it an ideal option for shutterbugs.

DCS's post further confirms an early OnePlus 16 camera specs leak, which outed the periscope camera detail last month. It will reportedly be joined by the SM8975 processor from Qualcomm, a.k.a. the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
For those unaware, Qualcomm is reportedly developing a Pro-grade Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor, which is touted to become the world's second 2nm SoC after the Exynos 2600 chipset. It will even seemingly get the breakthrough Samsung Heat Path Block (HPB) cooling tech.

Moreover, DCS has also added a sub-post stating that since Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro will support LPDDR6 RAM generation, there is a high chance OnePlus 16 could ship with LPDDR6 RAM. The newest generation is said to offer double the bandwidth of LPDDR5 and is a key hardware implementation for complex on-device AI computation.
If that happens, then the current OnePlus 16 starting price projection is set at 5,000 Chinese yuan (approximately Rs 67,000). By the time the smartphone reaches India, it could cost well above Rs 90,000. However, we believe that to keep abnormal pricing in check, OnePlus could use LPDDR5 RAM for the base and sub RAM and storage model, keeping LPDDR6 reserved for the top-end model.
That said, with the OnePlus 16 launch expected to happen in October 2026, we are still several months away. However, the upcoming flagship will certainly become the one to look out for in 2026, even with rising costs.
