Vivo and iQOO have started recruiting beta testers for OriginOS 7, their next-generation custom Android skin. The brands have officially taken to their Weibo accounts to share a poster highlighting all the smartphones eligible to enroll into the Android 17-based OriginOS 7 Beta in China.

The recruitment window for this initial beta phase is brief and runs strictly from today, July 30, 2026, at 10:00 AM (or 7:30 AM IST) to closing just a few days later on August 4, 2026, at 11:59 PM (or 9:29 PM IST). Therefore, interested users will have to act quickly before either the enrolment window expires or all the slots are filled.

Coming to the OriginOS 7 eligible devices,  the official beta program is currently open only to users of the Vivo X300 Pro, Vivo X Fold 6 and Vivo Pad 6 Pro from the mainline Vivo brand.

On the iQOO side, eligibility is restricted to the latest flagship iQOO 15 and the iQOO Pad 6 Pro tablet.

While Vivo has yet to officially detail the specific features or UI changes coming in OriginOS 7, the announcement means Vivo could soon hold an event highlighting all the new features. Historically, OriginOS updates have focused on UI customisation, animations and AI features, so OriginOS 7 should feature the same.

It's also worth reiterating that this Beta testing is limited to China only at the moment. However, both Vivo and iQOO should expand the beta to other countries soon. With July 2026 coming to a close, the beta should last for the entirety of August and September.

The Vivo X500 series is expected to launch sometime in September 2026 and it should be the first set of smartphones to run on OriginOS 7 out of the box. More information about the features and other OriginOS 7 eligible smartphones should be revealed as the Beta testing progresses, so stay tuned.
