Poco's next "F" series smartphones, the F8 and the F8 Ultra, are due to launch next year. While nothing has been made official yet, the devices are already part of the rumour mill. The latest development around the F8 lineup includes the alleged battery capacity of the smartphones.

Poco F8 series tipped to arrive with nerfed battery capacities

According to X user Kacper Skrzypek, both the Poco F8 and F8 Ultra will launch with lesser battery capacity than expected. The user was able to spot the same by examining the HyperOS source code. It has revealed 6,210mAh for the F8 and 6,500mAh for the F8 Ultra.

This is an interesting development since a previous Poco F8 series battery capacity leak hinted at a well over 8,000mAh capacity for the smartphones. However, it looks like Poco will continue its trend of nerfing battery capacities for India and global launches.

If we go by historical data, the Redmi K series smartphones in China are always rebranded as Poco F series smartphones. So, technically, the Redmi K90 series that launched in China will most likely be rebranded as the Poco F8 and the Poco F8 Ultra in 2026.

Now, both the Redmi K90 and the K90 Pro Max offer well over 7,000mAh battery capacities. Similarly, the Poco F7 series, which launched with reduced battery capacity similar to the Redmi K80 series, is expected to follow the same trend with the upcoming F8 lineup.

As for the other specifications, expect both phones to ship with almost identical peripherals to those of their Redmi counterparts. Both phones are expected to launch with a 2K 120 Hz OLED display, a triple rear camera setup with a 50 MP main camera and HyperOS 3.0 based on Android 16 out of the box.

Other than that, just like the K90 series, the Poco F8 could feature last year's Snapdragon 8 Elite while the F8 Ultra will bring the recent Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.

That said, nothing has been made official as of yet. So, take this development with a pinch of salt. Also, the next Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Poco phone was also teased a while back and it could be the Poco F8 Ultra. While nothing else is known at the moment, we expect to see more details surface in the coming days.
