Ahead of the Snapdragon Summit 2026 event later this month, Qualcomm has detailed Adreno Neural Fusion, a new AI-driven rendering technology for its next-generation flagship platforms. This is the first time Qualcomm chips will have AI-dedicated Adreno GPU cores.
In an official blog post, Qualcomm has explained that Adreno Neural Fusion combines three technologies, Neural Processing, AI Super Resolution, and AI Super Frame Generation, into a unified graphics pipeline.

Qualcomm says that the practicality of this will solve a major problem that mobile gamers will recognise. Upscaling on phones has always come with trade-offs: fine details shimmer, fast-moving objects leave ghosting behind them, and the final image looks softer than native rendering.
Qualcomm says Neural Fusion is built specifically to reduce those artefacts while keeping motion clarity intact. The company claims that games can now achieve higher visual quality while utilising less power.
Adreno Matrix Cores Bring Dedicated AI Processing to the GPU
Moving on, Adreno Matrix Cores are AI-dedicated GPU cores designed to run AI models directly inside the graphics pipeline. Qualcomm describes this as a first for Adreno, and it means Matrix acceleration now spans every major processing engine on the platform: NPU, CPU and the GPU.
The biggest benefit of this is on-chip GPU-based AI rendering while reducing latency. Previously, AI work related to rendering had to leave the graphics pipeline, be processed elsewhere and come back. This caused a higher workload pathway, heat generation and energy transfer, reducing the efficiency of the task.
Adreno Matrix Cores come with 18 MB of Adreno High Performance Memory (AHPM), a dedicated on-chip cache built into the three-slice GPU architecture. It keeps tile-based rendering, frame buffers and compute workloads local to the graphics subsystem rather than repeatedly pulling from system memory.
Moreover, Qualcomm says that Adreno Neural Fusion is already integrated into Unity and Unreal Engine, making it the first mobile AI super-resolution technology of its kind supported across major game engines and commercially available.
That said, Qualcomm has not named which chips carry Adreno Matrix Cores, referring only to its "next generation of flagship platforms." Given the 18 MB HPM figure and the timing, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and 8 Elite Gen 6 Extreme seem to be the likely candidates. We will know for sure once the Snapdragon Summit commences on September 22, 2026.
