At the Reliance AGM 2026, Chairman Akash Ambani announced that Jio plans to migrate its entire subscriber base to its True 5G network by 2030. Meanwhile, the telecom giant is also doubling down on AI, satellite connectivity, enterprise services and exporting its homegrown telecom technology to overseas markets. 

Jio's Roadmap Focuses on 5G, AI, Satellite Connectivity, and Global Expansion

Jio currently has over 524 million subscribers in India, of which 268 million are already using its 5G network, as per details showcased at the AGM 2026 livestream. According to the Reliance, it added 77 million new 5G subscribers during FY2026, making it the largest 5G operator outside China.

Overall data consumption on its network also jumped 30.8% year-on-year to 241 exabytes, which is proof of the growing demand for high-speed mobile internet in India. 

Speaking at the AGM 2026, Ambani stated five strategic commitments that will shape Jio's future. The first is to transition all subscribers to 5G by the end of 2030 while contributing to global 6G standards. 

Beyond that, the company also plans to improve its standalone 5G network via network slicing and advanced beamforming for better performance in crowded areas.

Jio is buckling up to take its home broadband to the next level. The company said Jio AirFiber, which became the world's largest fixed wireless broadband service in 2025, now connects around 13 million homes. Thanks to its wireless deployment model, broadband installations can reportedly be completed within 24 hours, allowing Jio to reach areas where traditional fiber rollout is difficult.

Jio has also confirmed that it is considering a Low Earth Orbit satellite constellation to improve connectivity in remote parts of India. Moreover, Jio is also planning on taking its telecom technology beyond India.

AI is another key pillar of Jio's growth strategy in India. The company announced AI-powered services like Jio TeleFrames. Then there's the Jio AI call agent, which can join phone calls with user permission to transcribe conversations in multiple Indian languages, generate summaries and more.
