Summary

  • Samsung is reportedly prepping the Galaxy S26 Ultra to feature noticeably rounded corners.
  • It will still likely feature an overall flat profile with flat sides, display and back.
  • Expect the smartphone to launch in January 2026 alongside the Galaxy S26 Pro and the Galaxy S26 Edge.

While we are still a few months away from the official unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, leaks and rumours have already started pouring in. This time around, the latest development hints at rounded corners for the Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Tipster Ice Universe revealed via X that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will feature rounded top and bottom corners. One of the biggest complaints that users had with the Galaxy S24 Ultra revolved around its in-hand feel, which was not only boxy and large but also sharp. Samsung fixed it with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which had rounded off corners, albeit minimally.

With the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, it seems that Samsung will make it more rounded, making it all the more comfortable to hold when gaming, viewing content or during one-hand usage.

So, it is good to see Samsung adopt a more user-friendly design with the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, there are two ways to look at it. While it could improve the in-hand usage significantly, this decision could also take away the very essence of "Galaxy S Ultra" smartphones completely.

Additionally, the same tipster revealed earlier that Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra could be getting a bump in screen size. Hence, the smartphone at 6.89 inches is getting even bigger compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra's 6.86-inch display. So, the decision to go with rounded corners on the next Ultra flagship doesn't seem too far-fetched.

Apart from this, the Galaxy S25 Ultra could pack a 5,000mAh battery with 60W fast USB-C charging support. It could also draw its power from the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 mobile processor.

With that said, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to break cover by early January 2026. It will reportedly be accompanied by the Galaxy S26 Edge and the Galaxy S26 Pro. The lineup is said to bid farewell to the Galaxy Plus. Only time will tell what the brand has in store for us. Till then, stay tuned.
