The Galaxy S series has featured 45W fast charging and a 5,000mAh battery since the Galaxy S20 Ultra. However, that may finally change as a new finding confirms a previous leak that Samsung might bump the charging speed on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Spotted by X user Erencan Yılmaz in the internal strings of One UI 8.5, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could charge at 60W, a generous bump from last year. Faster charging speeds could leave fans less disappointed as Samsung is expected to stick with a 5,000mAh battery.
Yeah, Ice Universe was really right. The Galaxy S26 Ultra will support 60W fast charging! https://t.co/KcVQjM7B2J pic.twitter.com/9SOs1nadlr

The strings include "60W" and some hex values that might show temperature and voltage limits. These appear to be a part of configuration files for charging integrated circuit and/or thermal management firmware inside One UI 8.5.

Besides faster charging speeds, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could boast a slimmer profile with slimmer bezels. Earlier reports suggested the firm could be working with Qualcomm for a Samsung-manufactured 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. The latest information suggests the 8 Elite 2 for Galaxy could still be based on TSMC.
Samsung is also reportedly changing the naming of the S26 series by dropping the S26 Plus and replacing it with Edge. Another internal One UI 8 build also suggests that the standard Galaxy S26 will be called the Galaxy S26 Pro. So, the line-up could look like:
- Galaxy S26 Pro
- Galaxy S26 Edge
- Galaxy S26 Ultra
Of course, these are very early leaks, so we suggest taking them with a grain of salt. A recent Galaxy S26 Edge leak suggested the phone could be even slimmer, while sporting a bigger battery. Since Samsung could replace the Plus variant with the Edge, will it launch alongside the S26 Pro and S26 Ultra in January next year? We will have to wait and find out.
