Samsung is finally addressing one of the biggest frustrations with foldable flip phones, which is poorly optimised apps on the cover screen. With the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the company has added a native aspect ratio control that lets users quickly resize apps on the cover screen.
The information comes from tech publication Android Authority (via tipster Dylan H), who reports that the feature is baked right into One UI 9.0 on the Galaxy Z Flip 8. This new native option replaces the Good Lock MultiStar module, which was the only way to switch aspect ratios on the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

Besides, one of the quirks of using MultiStar was that it only applied to apps launched through its dedicated widgets. As a result, experimental Labs apps were completely unsupported.
Compared to that, the native aspect ratio button in One UI 9 on the Galaxy Z Flip 8 universally supports official cover screen apps, Labs features and unoptimised third-party software. However, do note that unsupported apps still require initial activation via MultiStar to appear on the cover screen.
Alongside this display tweak, the software update introduces per-app zoom settings and per-screen auto-rotate locks. These UI refinements complement the broader hardware upgrades of the Flip 8, including a faster Exynos 2600 chipset and a 4,300mAh battery.
That said, as this appears to be a One UI 9.0 feature, we could expect all the One UI 9-supported devices to receive it very soon.
