Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Z Flip 8, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra. While the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series lean into productivity and content creation, the Z Flip 8 is built around quick interactions and AI-native experiences, all packed into what Samsung calls its sleekest Flip yet.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 Specifications and Features

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 weighs just 180 grams and measures 6.1mm thick, making it Samsung's slimmest and lightest Flip phone to date, shaving 8 grams off its predecessor's weight.

Up front is the same 6.9-inch foldable Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, with up to a 120 Hz refresh rate, paired with a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED 120 Hz cover screen. So, nothing has changed on this front, with it remaining the same as the Galaxy Z Flip 7.

The biggest change on the Z Flip 8 is how it reimagines the FlexWindow, the cover screen that's long been a signature Flip feature. Samsung is now positioning it as an AI-powered interface, bringing apps, insights, and actions directly to the cover display so users can access information and complete tasks in fewer steps.

This includes Now Brief on the FlexWindow home screen, which surfaces timely insights and next steps based on the user's routine. Samsung has also built in easier access to automation through Gemini Intelligence directly from the FlexWindow, letting users complete connected actions using the side key or natural voice requests.

The Gemini Intelligence integration comes in handy for completing multi-step tasks across supported apps as well. The phone runs One UI 9, which introduces a new AI Assistant Activity dashboard for reviewing AI actions taken on the user's behalf. Then there's also the enhanced Privacy Alerts feature for flagging suspicious permission requests.

Like the rest of the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, it also benefits from Samsung's broader Galaxy AI push, including Now Nudge, which suggests relevant next steps as conversations develop.

Unlike the Fold 8 series, which uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset for Galaxy, the Z Flip 8 is powered by Samsung's own Exynos 2600 chipset. This is the same 10-core SoC found in cheaper variants of the Galaxy S26 series, with a single "Ultra" core clocked up to 3.8GHz.

The chipset is paired with 12GB of RAM across all variants, alongside 256GB or 512GB storage options, with no 1TB configuration available this time.

On the camera front, Samsung is calling the Z Flip 8's setup its most advanced Flip selfie experience yet. It includes a 50 MP main camera with ProVisual Engine and hardware image stabilisation, aimed at capturing detailed portraits with natural skin tones and dynamic bokeh.

This is joined by a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, while the display's built-in selfie camera reportedly continues to use a 10 MP sensor.

A few creative tools round out the experience, including a Flex Mode, which enables hands-free shooting from a range of angles. There's also a new Camcorder Grip with Zoom Rocker, which offers a steadier hold for on-the-move shots.

The Super Steady feature now includes a Horizontal Lock option for smoother, consistently framed footage. Meanwhile, FlipShot lets users personalise the FlexWindow to capture more expressive mirror selfies, alongside a dedicated Mirror view for quick look-checks before heading out.
