Vivo fans have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of OriginOS in India. While rumours have been floating here and there, nothing was officially confirmed. Now, it looks like the brand is finally gearing up to announce the OS's arrival in the country.
The official FuntouchOS India handle on X has been updated to read OriginOS. Even the banner image and logo has been changed to that of OriginOS. Even the bio now reads, "OriginOS is an operating system created by vivo. Follow us and find out more interesting facts about #vivo #OriginOS!"

Subsequently, iQOO team member, Shankar Singh has also made an official iQOO community post confirming that both upcoming Vivo and iQOO smartphones will bring OriginOS 6 to the table. Interestingly, the Vivo India URL still has funtouch in it. We can expect it to redirect to an official"vivo.com/in/originos" page once it goes live in the country.

Moreover, the Vivo Thailand Facebook page has also announced the OriginOS 6 Preview Program. This makes it the first official confirmation that OriginOS is coming to global markets as well. To recall, earlier Vivo devices in Thailand shipped with FuntouchOS.

All in all, looks like the never-ending gripe with FuntouchSO is about to end soon. With Vivo's adoption of OriginOS across the board, this could very likely be the end of FuntouchOS. Recently, the OriginOS 6 China launch date was confirmed. So, once the Android 16-based OS skin gets officially announced on October 10, expect to hear an official arrival date for India and the global audience as well.
We expect the Vivo X300 to arrive first with OriginOS 6 in India, since the X300 series' China launch is set for October 13, 2025.

That said, it is still unclear how the OriginOS rollout will happen in India. Singh says that the OriginOS 6 beta rollout will happen soon. However, he has not mentioned any date for the same. We believe it will first arrive to Funtouch OS 16-supported devices and will later expand to FuntouchOS 15, FuntouchOS 14 and so forth devices in decreasing order. However, only time will tell how Vivo plans to phase out its previous Android skin in India.
