Summary

It's been over a few months since Xiaomi 17's China debut and the brand is yet to announce the phone's global launch date. The smartphone is expected to be unveiled during MWC 2026, scheduled for March 2, 2026. Now, ahead of its expected launch, specifications of the Xiaomi 17 global variant have surfaced in detail and it's not all good news.
Xiaomi 17 Global Variant to Receive a Significant Battery Cut
Reliable tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore took to X to share the specs sheet of the Xiaomi 17 global variant. Looks like the global version of the Xiaomi 17 will arrive with a smaller 6,330mAh battery, compared to the larger 7,000mAh capacity in its Chinese counterpart, which is roughly a 10% reduction. The charging speeds, though, will remain the same at 100W wired and 50W wireless.

While there's no explanation on why, it's mostly to do with battery regulations worldwide, which are quite strict in the EU. There's currently no word about the phone's arrival in India, but considering the Poco F7 launched with a 7,550mAh cell, the Xiaomi 17 Indian variant could stick to 7,000mAh.
Performance enthusiasts could also be taken aback. While the global variant could retain Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, global buyers will be limited to 12 GB RAM and storage capping out at 512 GB. The 16 GB and 1 TB variants launched in China are seemingly being left out due to the ongoing global memory shortage.

In terms of aesthetics, the White colourway is being swapped for a new global-exclusive Dark Green variant, and joins the existing Black, Light Blue and Pink variants. OS-wise, the smartphone will arrive with HyperOS 3 features based on Android 16 out of the box.
As for the other specifications, the global variant will retain everything from the 6.3-inch OLED display to the triple-rear Leica Summilux lenses and the ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, all of which we detailed during the Xiaomi 17 China launch.
When it comes to the pricing and availability, the Xiaomi 17 series is expected to debut in Europe just before or during MWC 2026 in early March 2026. Pricing is tipped to start at 999 euros (approximately Rs 1,07,000) for the standard variant, while the Ultra could demand 1,499 euros (approximately Rs 1,60,000). More information about its release date should be revealed soon.
