Oppo F35 Pro gets a lot right with its fantastic battery, noticeably upgraded display and a new main camera with OIS, which is much more capable than what we got last year. The ultrawide selfie camera also remains the phone's biggest differentiator, especially if you regularly take group selfies. Yes, it does not feature the most powerful chipset in this segment, but it handles everyday use comfortably. With memory costs pushing smartphone prices higher, the F35 Pro’s overall package feels surprisingly well-rounded for the segment. And perhaps that's what the “F” in Oppo F35 Pro really stands for: finding the right balance.

Pros

  • Excellent battery life with extremely fast charging
  • Bright and responsive AMOLED screen
  • Reliable main camera with OIS
  • Standout ultra-wide selfie camera
  • Strong durability

Cons

  • Performance could be stronger for the price
  • No NFC

Oppo's F-series has always been about selfies, design, and battery life. The newly launched Oppo F35 Pro doubles down on all three while quietly fixing some of the biggest shortcomings of its predecessor. After spending about two weeks with the phone, I think Oppo has made a genuinely better F-series phone. But with the price now pushing closer to Rs 50,000, does the rest of the phone even keep up? Let's find out in this detailed Oppo F35 Pro review.

Design and Build

  • 162.6 x 77.6 x 8.4 mm
  • 210 grams
  • IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K rated

The Oppo F35 Pro looks familiar. Very familiar, in fact. If you have seen the Oppo F33 Pro, you will immediately recognise the same overall shape, curved edges and circular camera module. That said, I don't think the F35 Pro looks dated.

The phone is still fairly slim at 8.4 mm, and despite the larger 8,000mAh battery (more on this later), it weighs 210 grams. That's certainly not lightweight, but the weight is distributed well enough that the phone doesn't feel cumbersome in everyday use.

I particularly like the new colour options. The F35 Pro comes in Sunset Orange, Wave Blue and Twilight Brown, with the latter offering a more understated look. Meanwhile, I have the orange colourway with me, and it turns heads for sure.

The glossy rear does attract fingerprints, though, so the bundled case quickly became the more practical option. The frame is plastic, which is one of those compromises you will notice if you are coming from a phone with an aluminium frame. Oppo does use an alloy reinforcement inside the body, but the part your fingers actually touch is still plastic.

Where the F35 Pro makes up for that is durability. You get IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings, which is a comprehensive combination for any phone in this segment.

The buttons are quite tactile and clicky, and I never found them to be that difficult to reach during one-handed usage.

There is a USB Type-C post, stereo speakers, an IR blaster and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint sensor is reasonably quick, although it can be a little fussy with damp fingers.

Display and Audio Quality

  • 6.78-inch 1.5K 144 Hz AMOLED display
  • 2772 x 1272 pixels
  • 800 nits typical, 1,800 nits HBM, 3,600 nits peak brightness

The display is one of the upgrades I appreciate most on the F35 Pro. The F33 Pro already had an AMOLED panel, but the F35 Pro moves to a sharper 1.5K resolution while pushing the refresh rate up to 144 Hz.

The text looks crisp, scrolling is extremely smooth, and the extra resolution becomes particularly noticeable when watching high-quality video or reading for long periods.

Colours are punchy without becoming cartoonish, while the AMOLED panel gives you the deep blacks and contrast you'd expect. This is easily a display I could spend hours consuming content on, and I did binge-watch The Lanterns on it. Those dark greens and blacks just came alive on this screen.

Outdoor visibility is better than before. The panel can reach 1,800 nits of HBM brightness, and that makes a difference under harsh sunlight. Checking notifications or navigating outdoors in a super sunny Noida was never a struggle for me.

Oppo F35 Pro also gets the basics right with 10-bit colour, 2160Hz PWM dimming and DC dimming at higher brightness levels. Oppo has also added Rainstorm Touch, allowing the screen to remain responsive when your fingers are wet.

There is one thing that continues to annoy me, though. The always-on display isn't actually always on. It lights up for a while before switching off, and without the full always-on experience, you can't glance at the phone on your desk throughout the day.

The stereo speakers are reasonably loud and perfectly usable for YouTube, calls and casual music listening. Bass predictably falls away as you push the volume higher, but I never felt the need to immediately reach for headphones.

Performance Tested

  • Dimensity 7360 Max
  • Up to 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage
  • 5,000 mm² vapour chamber

The Oppo F35 Pro is faster than its predecessor; that much is obvious. Moving from the Dimensity 6360 Max processor on the F33 Pro to the 4 nm Dimensity 7360 Max chipset gives the phone noticeably more breathing room.

App launches are quicker, scrolling feels smoother, and jumping between a handful of apps doesn't result in the kind of hesitation I noticed on the older model. UFS 3.1 storage also helps make the phone feel more responsive when installing apps or moving through larger files. The combination of the faster storage and newer chipset makes this feel like a proper generational upgrade.

But there's an important catch. The Dimensity 7360 Max is good, but it isn't particularly exciting at this price. Normal day-to-day use is not a problem. Social media, Chrome, messaging, video streaming and multitasking are all handled comfortably. It is only when you start asking more from the phone that those limitations become clearer.

That's very easily noticeable in those benchmark numbers:

Gaming is mostly doable, but not something you'd find yourself doing too much on this phone. BGMI can run at up to 90 FPS, and the 5,000 mm² vapour chamber does a decent job of keeping temperatures under control during shorter sessions.

The phone does warm up under sustained load, but it doesn't immediately turn into a hand warmer. I wouldn't buy the F35 Pro specifically as a gaming phone, though. There are phones around this price that put a lot more emphasis on raw performance.

Software and Updates

  • ColorOS 16.5 based on Android 17
  • 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security patches

ColorOS 16.5 is one of the better parts of the F35 Pro's overall experience. The interface looks polished, animations are fluid and everything just feels nicely unified.

Oppo has also added several useful features rather than stuffing the phone with AI tools that you will forget about after the first week. Live Capsule is useful for things like timers, charging information and ongoing activities.

Live Alerts also work with a wide selection of apps, giving ColorOS a fairly good answer to Apple's Live Activities. Then there are features like Shake & Pay, which lets you quickly launch Google Pay, PhonePe or Paytm with a shake. AI Call Guard can also flag spam calls and detect potential synthetic voices and faces.

There are plenty of AI image-editing tools too, including AI Unblur, AI Reflection Eraser, AI Recompose and AI Perfect Shot. Some of these are genuinely handy when you need them.

The bigger problem is bloatware. There are quite a few pre-installed apps and games, while Global Search and Lock Screen Magazine can introduce ads into the experience. Thankfully, most of this can be removed or disabled, but I would still prefer to start with a cleaner installation.

Three years of OS updates and four years of security updates are also adequate at this price.

  • 8 MP ultrawide, f/2.2, autofocus
  • 50 MP selfie camera, 100-degree field of view, autofocus

The camera system is probably the biggest hardware upgrade on the Oppo F35 Pro. The F33 Pro's camera setup left quite a bit to be desired. Oppo has addressed most of those complaints this time around by adding a larger main sensor, OIS, an ultrawide camera and 4K recording.

Main Camera

The 50 MP main camera is a clear step up. The larger 1/2-inch sensor captures noticeably more detail in good lighting, particularly in textures such as fabric and foliage. Colours are pleasant without leaning too heavily toward warm tones, and the processing doesn't go overboard with sharpening.

Dynamic range is improved as well, although there is still room for improvement when dealing with particularly challenging scenes. The addition of OIS is another meaningful upgrade. It helps when shooting handheld, especially as the light starts dropping, and makes it easier to get sharper images without having to hold the phone perfectly still.

There is no telephoto camera, so zoom isn't the F35 Pro's strongest area. A 2x crop is usable, but once you start pushing beyond that, detail falls away fairly quickly.

Ultrawide Camera

The 8 MP ultrawide is another welcome addition, but let's be honest, you won't be relying on it all that much. Having a wider perspective makes the camera setup much more versatile, and it works well enough for some shots of architecture and situations where you simply cannot step back any further.

For example, if you take a look at the night shot of the clock above, you will see it's blurry. I did try to capture it while being completely still, and yet, those micro jitters made it blurry.

Front-Facing Camera

The 50 MP front camera has a 100-degree field of view and autofocus, making it very versatile. That combination is particularly useful for group selfies because you can fit considerably more people into the frame without everyone having to squeeze together.

Autofocus is also handy when the phone is held closer to the face, while Oppo's Natural Tone processing keeps skin tones looking fairly balanced.

More importantly, the front camera can record in 4K @ 30 FPS. That's a significant upgrade if you use your phone for video calls, reels or product shots.

Video Quality

The F35 Pro can record 4K @ 30 FPS from both the rear and front cameras. The rear camera also supports 1080p @ 60 FPS and an Ultra Steady mode at 1080p @ 30 FPS. Stabilisation is useful for walking clips, although this isn't going to replace a gimbal for serious video work.

The move to 4K recording is still a welcome change. It gives the F35 Pro considerably more flexibility than its predecessor.

Battery Life and Charging

  • 8,000mAh battery
  • 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging
  • 55W PPS, 44W UFCS, 13.5W PD

The 8,000mAh battery is enormous for a phone that still manages to stay around 8.4mm thick. During testing, the phone comfortably delivered more than 10 hours of screen-on time on 5G, which is excellent by almost any standard.

This is an absolute blessing for heavy users. A full day is easy and lighter usage can stretch well into the following morning.

Oppo F35 Pro charging animation

The 80W SUPERVOOC charging also means you aren't waiting forever when the battery finally does run low. A full charge from 0–100% takes around 1 hour and 10 minutes, which is a respectable result considering the size of the battery.

I also appreciate the broader charging compatibility. You get 55W PPS, 44W UFCS and 13.5W PD support, so you're not completely tied to Oppo's own charger if you want to use a different adapter.

Oppo F35 Pro 5G Review Verdict: Should You Buy It?

Oppo F35 Pro is a much more complete phone than its predecessor. The 8,000mAh battery is excellent, the 1.5K 144 Hz AMOLED display is a noticeable upgrade and the camera system has finally received the attention it deserved.

The 50 MP main camera with OIS is considerably more capable, while the ultra-wide selfie camera remains a genuine differentiator for people who regularly take group selfies. The phone is also impressively durable and the overall software experience is smooth once you get rid of the unnecessary extras.

The Dimensity 7360 Max isn't the most powerful chipset you can get at this price, but the RAM crisis has forced brands to make difficult choices between pricing, specifications and margins. In that environment, the F35 Pro's overall package looks more reasonable than the Rs 45,999 starting price might suggest at first glance.

The lack of NFC is another omission I would have liked Oppo to address, while the plastic frame doesn't exactly make the phone feel like a premium mid-ranger.

If battery life, selfies, cameras, display and durability are your priorities, the F35 Pro makes a lot of sense. It is a particularly good fit for someone who wants a phone that can comfortably last through a heavy day without reaching for a charger.
