Just a day after unveiling its flagship Dimensity 9500 chipset, MediaTek launched the Dimensity 7360 processor in 2025,. It's a 4nm chip designed for mid-range 5G smartphones and promises strong power efficiency and smooth gaming experience. That said, it looks very close to the Dimensity 7300 chip which was launched in 2024. Now, let's go ahead and learn more about the Dimensity 7360 chip.
Dimensity 7360 CPU
The Dimensity 7360 is an octa-core chip fabricated on a 4nm (TSMC N4) process node. It packs older CPU cores, which are built on the ARMv8.2-A instruction set. The Dimensity 7360 packs 4x performance-focused Cortex-A78 cores, clocked at 2.5GHz and 4x Cortex-A55 cores, clocked at 2.0GHz for lighter tasks.
While these are capable cores, they are quite old in 2026. The Cortex-A78 first arrived in 2020 and Cortex-A55 was launched way back in 2017. Sure, for everyday work like app launches, scrolling and multitasking, this CPU is perfectly capable, however, it's not a modern CPU and can't do heavy lifting on newer tasks.
In a leaked Geekbench listing, the Dimensity 7360, running on the Vivo S2 scored 908 points in single-core tasks and 2,981 in multi-core tasks.
Meanwhile, the Dimensity 7400 processor features the same core cluster but clocks its Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6GHz with a 100MHz bump. So the Dimensity 7360 actually sits a notch below the Dimensity 7400. What is strange is that the Dimensity 7350 ships with newer Armv9 cores (Cortex-A715 and A510).
And on the Qualcomm side, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chip brings the newer Cortex-A720 and A520 cores. Put simply, the real-world CPU gap is modest, but architecturally, the Dimensity 7360 is far behind the competition.

Dimensity 7360 GPU
Now, coming to graphics. The Dimensity 7360 packs an Arm Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, which is a 2-core GPU. It's fine for casual and online games at moderate settings but runs out of performance headroom quickly in demanding titles.
If you want to play BGMI or Genshin Impact at high graphics and frame rates, this is not the chip you should be looking for. MediaTek does bring Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0 (MAGT 3.0) and Variable Rate Shading, but the underlying hardware is simply weak.
The Dimensity 8400's gaming performance, with its Mali-G720 MC7, is in a completely different league. Even the older Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor shows a stronger and more stable Adreno GPU for gaming.

Verdict
To sum up, the Dimensity 7360 is a mid-range chip built for efficiency, but it breaks absolutely no new ground. When you compare it to the Dimensity 7300, both look almost similar. Both are built on the same 4nm node, pack the same CPU cores, the same Mali-G615 MC2 GPU, NPU 655, Imagiq 950 ISP and 5G modem.
The only new additions are in software, which include Adaptive Gaming Technology 3.0 and Lightning Connect. In practical terms, the scores we got from benchmarking the Dimensity 7300 are likely in the same ballpark as the Dimensity 7360. Not to mention, the aging Cortex-A78 and A55 cores and the underpowered Mali-G615 MC2 GPU make the overall package disappointing in the premium mid-range segment.
