Questions about OnePlus exiting from India have been popping online, leaving many enthusiasts, die-hard fans and customers uncertain over the fate of the company and their phones in limbo. So, what is going on with OnePlus, what is its future in India, and what does it mean for your OnePlus phone? Find out in this read.
Is OnePlus Exiting India?
Short answer: OnePlus has officially confirmed that it will continue its operations in India as usual.
OnePlus recently announced in its community post that it will be shutting its business in the US and UK, which means no more inventory refills and no new device launches.
However, before this announcement, trusted industry analyst Mark Gurman reported that OnePlus has plans to exit India by 2027, citing a person familiar with Oppo's restructuring plans in his Bloomberg article.

However, OnePlus has directly denied this claim in an official statement, making it clear that the company will resume its India business and has plans to release new devices in the region. OnePlus also requested media outlets to refrain from spreading any such rumours and speculations.
In fact, OnePlus India's Marketing Director, Ishita Grover, confirmed to Android Central that the Indian business is unaffected by the changes happening elsewhere. So, it seems that OnePlus is not exiting India for the foreseeable future.

OnePlus Shutdown: What Will Change for OnePlus Phone Users in India?
Even if the rumoured 2027 OnePlus shutdown doesn't happen, some major changes are coming to OnePlus phones that the company has officially confirmed. The biggest one is that everyone's beloved OxygenOS is going away.

In its community post, OnePlus has shared that all devices eligible for the Android 17 update will receive ColorOS updates. Users will still get major Android updates, but it just won't be in the form of OxygenOS.
With OnePlus shutting its service centres, OnePlus warranty and repair work is moving into Oppo's service centre network, which has a much larger footprint in India. It expands the current coverage from around 400 to over 600 locations.

OnePlus is also shifting towards a direct-to-consumer-only brand, focusing on online markets similar to the likes of iQOO, which is a sub-brand of Vivo. Finally, the company will continue to launch new products in India, with the recently teased OnePlus N6X next in line.
