Apple posted a record $114.5 billion in revenue for the September 2026 quarter, along with an all-time revenue record in India. However, the newly launched iPhone Duo was the big talking point, as Apple’s first foldable has hit supply chain and quality hurdles.
iPhone Duo Supply Remains Constrained
On the earnings call, JPMorgan analyst Samik Chatterjee asked about the iPhone Duo’s supply chain. Apple COO Sabih Khan said, “We are thrilled with the initial response on the iPhone Duo. iPhone Duo is constrained as of today.”
Khan added that the production ramp is going well. However, he said, “at this time, it is really hard to predict when supply and demand will be in balance.” CEO John Ternus also said Apple is “working hard to get iPhone Duo into customers’ hands as quickly as we can.”

This falls in line with current shipping estimates on Apple’s online store, as they have stayed at late January 2027 ever since pre-orders sold out on October 16, 2026. Note that the iPhone Duo went on sale on October 23, 2026, after the September quarter ended, so its sales will only show up in Apple’s December quarter results.
The situation is similar in India. Retailers say only around 6,000 to 7,000 iPhone Duo units were initially available in the country. Apple also limited iPhone purchases to two per customer on its Indian online store.

Ternus Addresses iPhone Duo Display Issue
Soon after the iPhone Duo went on sale, some users started reporting cracks on its inner display, which people online have nicknamed “Crackgate.” Apple confirmed the problem last month, saying it was aware of “an issue impacting the inner display on a small number of iPhone Duo units.”

Speaking to Reuters, Ternus said the issue is real but affects only a few units. According to him, a “very small percentage” of iPhone Duo units have been returned with display issues, and Apple is replacing them with new units.
That said, Apple still hasn’t shared the exact number of affected units or what’s causing the cracks. Apple recommends contacting AppleCare for a replacement. In India, retailers say no such cases have been reported so far. However, with so few units sold here, it’s too early to say whether Indian units are affected.
