Recently, a lot of iPhone 18 Pro speculations have been floating online. From new colourways to an unusual selfie camera placement, new information has revealed interesting details for this year's Pro models. Now, a new leak has revealed the exact size of the iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island and well, it may be shrinking.
iPhone 18 Pro Dynamic Island could be smaller
As per details shared by reliable tipster Ice Universe, Apple is reducing the Dynamic Island cutout of the iPhone 18 Pro by upto 35%. It is said to bring the pill's size down from 20.76 mm on the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max to 13.49 mm, which is said to bring a cleaner look to the upcoming iPhones.
If true, this will bring a distinctive display design to the Pro model iPhones. Moreover, a recent iPhone 18 display size leak revealed Apple's intention to experiment with under-display Face ID tech. Hence, with most of the hardware now shifting behind the ProMotion glass, the reason for a wider pill-shaped cutout becomes redundant.
All in all, both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to retain a similarly sized LTPO 120 Hz dynamic island display. We expect it to function the same way as it does now. However, when not in use, it will be less obstructive and will offer a higher screen real estate, especially for the status bar.
That said, it is unclear what this new implementation will look like. Fans might have to adjust to the smaller Dynamic Island initially, but we can only be sure once production samples emerge close to launch.
