Hours before Apple's "Surprise and shine" event, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has revealed what might be one of the new AI capabilities that the Cupertino brand plans to announce today. The Apple Watch Series 12 and the Ultra 4 could bring a new Recaps feature.
As per Gurman, Recaps will be an extension of the Siri AI features and will reportedly live inside the dedicated Siri app. Users will be able to keep Recaps running 24/7, trigger the feature on demand and even set it to activate at specific locations.

Moreover, Recaps is said to be heavily privacy-focused. According to Gurman, no Recap transcriptions will be shown to the user, no audio recordings will be stored at any point and data points will be extracted live, with other data discarded by Recaps.
This means that while Recaps will be able to use the onboard microphone on the Watch Series 12 and the Watch Ultra 4, Apple will ensure that only relevant data is used to make the feature functional. Moving on, Gurman says that Recaps will require new hardware.
The report claims that the upcoming Apple Watches will be fitted with an updated chip that will enable secure audio processing for Recaps. Hence, this could very well mean Recaps will be limited to the Watch Series 12 and the Ultra 4.

So, it seems like Apple is planning multiple new things for the latest Apple Watch models, since Recaps is the third Apple Watch feature to leak this week. Gurman previously reported that the Series 12 and Ultra 4 will add always-on heart rate tracking and a new Readiness app built to compete with Whoop and Oura.
That said, we will know for sure once the Apple Watch Series and Watch Ultra 4 launches tonight. So, stay tuned.
