Oppo's ColorOS 17 launched in China last month with a new Fluid Design and a bunch of AI features. Now, it looks like ColorOS 17 is finally heading beyond China and into global markets for Oppo, OnePlus and Realme phones.

ColorOS 17 Global Launch Date Announced

The official Oppo Japan X account has confirmed that ColorOS 17 will debut in Japan on October 13, 2026. The account has shared a teaser video with the tagline "Silky Smooth. Flow with AI."

However, according to tipster Noah Cat (@cartidise) on X, ColorOS 17 will reportedly launch globally on the same day for Oppo, OnePlus and Realme phones. The official Oppo global X account has not shared a global launch date or rollout schedule yet.

This update is especially important for OnePlus and Realme phone users. Earlier this year, OnePlus confirmed that it is retiring OxygenOS in favour of ColorOS. Realme also confirmed it will retire Realme UI.

So, there will be no OxygenOS 17 or Realme UI 8. Instead, eligible OnePlus phones and Realme phones will move straight to ColorOS 17 as their Android 17 update. This means Oppo, OnePlus and Realme phones will all run the same unified software experience.

What's New in ColorOS 17?

The main highlight of ColorOS 17 is its new Fluid Design visual language, which is heavily inspired by iOS's Liquid Glass interface design. ColorOS 17 brings a consistent visual experience across the UI, whether in terms of animations, touch feedback, or UI elements.

Here's what else the new update offers:

  • Elastic feedback: Buttons and sliders stretch and squeeze when pressed and then bounce back.
  • Aurora Engine: Oppo says it cuts app memory use by 25% and makes animations smoother.
  • Tidal Engine: Oppo claims up to 55.6% better background app retention and 50% faster scrolling in third-party apps.
  • AI features: Including an AI Photo Editor, AI Notes, live call translation and AI Call Anti-Fraud, which detects scam calls in real time.
