When Apple's iPhone Air launched last year, it became the talk of the town with its incredibly slim 5.6mm profile, making it the thinnest iPhone ever. However, achieving that design meant making a few compromises, most notably a single rear camera. Now, our first solid look at the next-generation iPhone Air 2 suggests Apple could finally be addressing many of those trade-offs.
iPhone Air 2 Tipped with Dual 48 MP Cameras and Redesigned Face ID
Prominent tipster FPT (Front Page Tech) posted a video on his YouTube channel, giving us a good look at the iPhone Air 2 design, while also detailing a few of its specifications. While the next-generation Air may not be looking drastically different from its predecessor, there are some key upgrades to tell it apart.
For starters, the next-gen Air is seen sporting a dual rear camera system, adding a 48 MP ultrawide lens alongside the 48 MP main camera. The tipster goes on to state how the iPhone Air arrived with a single 48 MP main lens "simply because there's zero place to put a second one" in the camera plateau. To achieve that incredibly thin profile, most of the Air's internals are stacked in this plateau itself.

So, to fit another lens in here "without making the thinnest iPhone thicker", Apple had to reportedly redesign the Face ID to make it more compact. As a result, the iPhone Air 2 could also be arriving with a smaller Dynamic Island.
Under the hood, the iPhone Air 2 could be powered by Apple's 2nm A20 chipset, which is said to bring "better battery life" to the successor.

Further, the tipster suggests that Apple is planning on keeping the iPhone Air 2 colourways "classy", sticking to the original's Space Black, Cloud White and Light Gold options. However, Apple could replace the Sky Blue colour option with a Lavender shade.

The good thing is that the next-gen Air will most likely be sticking to the current model's titanium frame instead of moving to aluminium like the iPhone 17 Pro did last year.
iPhone Air 2 Price (Expected)
From the looks of it, the iPhone Air 2 will be quite the upgrade and the Air that fans have always wanted in the first place. However, recently, Apple increased the prices of iPads, Macs and Home Devices, and iPhones are widely expected to be next in line for a hike.
As per the latest leak, the Air 2 could also be priced higher than the current generation by almost $50 (approximately Rs 4,500). For reference, the iPhone Air starts at Rs 1,19,900 in India and $999 in the US.
According to Bloomberg's Apple iPhone 2026-2027 launch roadmap leak, the iPhone Air 2 could debut alongside the regular iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e in 2027 Spring. This year, we may only be getting the iPhone 18 Pro models alongside the foldable iPhone Ultra.
So, with the Air 2 launch still being several months away, expect more details to further back these details in the coming days.
