Google's AI note-taking assistant has so far remained exclusive to Google Meet, but a new update no longer confines it to its own conferencing platform. Following the immense user adoption, the brand has announced that the Gemini-powered Take Notes for Me feature is expanding to other video conferencing platforms and even in-person meetings.
Google Meet Take Notes for Me Expands to More Platforms
In an official blog post where Google revealed all the new features coming to Google Workspace soon, the brand revealed that the Take Notes for Me feature can be used with more platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams and even in-person meetings.

For those unaware, the feature initially launched in 2024, and Google claims over 110 million users have used the feature in the last month alone. The brand projects that it is expected to achieve a staggering 8.5x year-over-year growth.
What sets Take Notes for Me apart from the competition is that, rather than simply transcribing what's being said, it uses Gemini to analyse conversations and generate a comprehensive recap, with key takeaways and actionable items.
Using the feature on other platforms is as simple as clicking the "Take Notes For Me" button right on the Google Meet home screen on Android or desktop. Once done, the AI will be activated and listen in on any meeting you are attending. This includes face-to-face meetings in a physical conference room.

Once the meeting concludes, the tool will compile the recorded conversation, summarise it and review action items. Then it should paste them into a fresh Google Doc for easy sharing and review. More information about the feature's expansion will be detailed in the Google Cloud Next 2026 event scheduled for April 24, 2026, where the brand should also reveal its exact rollout date.
Besides the cross-platform capabilities of "Take Notes for Me", the brand is also expected to announce new branding elements for Google Vids avatars and a new Gemini "auto-browse" feature in Chrome.
