Alongside the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Google is also expected to unveil the Pixel 10 Pro Fold this year with notable spec upgrades. Now, a new development hints at improved protection and durability.
As per an exclusive report by Android Headlines, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold could bring a slimmer hinge this time around, offering a better in-hand feel. This falls in line with an earlier report from the publication that revealed several Pixel 10 Pro Fold CAD renders in collaboration with leaker OnLeaks.
In terms of the material, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will most likely come with an Aluminium hinge just like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Or it could also settle for a Titanium hinge. Nothing can be said for sure yet.
Moreover, the publication also reveals that Google's upcoming flagship foldable will also sport an IP68 rating. If true, this could become the first book-style foldable to offer this level of ingress protection.
Currently, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is the only book-style foldable that offers protection against both dust and water. And even then, it is an IP48 rating. So, with an IP68 rating, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be able to offer the highest level of dust protection ('6' in IP68 stands for dust protection rating) in the market. Apart from that, the device will be able to withstand up to one meter of immersion for 30 minutes (the '8' in IP68 denotes water resistance).
This is an important development since foldables are inherently fragile, especially the inner foldable display. Any level of grime and dirt can potentially cause damage to the inner display and, in a lot of cases, render it inoperable.
Apart from this, reports have indicated a slightly larger cover display on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. To recall, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold came with a 6.3-inch cover screen. So, expect the cover screen on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold to be somewhere around the 6.5-inch mark.
With that being said, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is yet to leak properly, giving us a glimpse into the core specifications of the device. So, as of now, not a lot is known about the device. However, expect the Pixel 10 Pro Fold to be a generational upgrade over the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
