Google has released the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7 update for supported Pixel phones, fixing excessive battery drain and failed HTTPS downloads. This latest beta follows last month's Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6  and focuses on fixing these bugs rather than adding new features.

Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7 Update: What's New

Talking about the battery drain issue, it occurs when the Flip to Shh feature prevents Google Pixel phones from entering deep sleep. This potentially causes the battery to drain faster than expected, even when the phone is not actively being used.

The second fix, as mentioned earlier, resolves an issue where HTTPS downloads initiated through Android's system Download Manager fail immediately. The bug could prevent users from downloading files through applications that rely on the system service.

The Android 17 QPR2 Beta 7 update carries the build number CP41.260831.016. The release is available for the Google Pixel 6a and newer supported phones, including the Pixel 11 series. However, do note that the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are not included in this release.

Users enrolled in the Android Beta Program can receive the update over the air by going to Settings -> System -> Software updates on eligible Pixel devices.

Google also provides system images for supported devices, allowing users to manually install the beta.

Because this is a beta release, users should expect bugs and other issues. Those who rely on their Pixel as their primary device may want to wait for the stable release rather than install experimental software.

The stable Android 17 QPR2 update is expected to arrive sometime in December 2026, possibly alongside Google's next Pixel Feature Drop. Until then, subsequent beta releases may bring additional bug fixes and refinements. Stay tuned for all the updates!
