  • A leaked prototype reveals "wide candybar" phone with a 6.39-inch display and Kirin 9-series processor.
  • The new series could be online-only an unconventional design previously seen on the Pura X View.

After the success of the Pura X View, a wide-screen non-folding smartphone, Huawei is reportedly prepping a new sub-brand called "Starlight". The brand's first phone will reportedly be a wide candybar phone, and will capitalise on a unique visual identity.

According to renowned tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, Starlight is rumoured to be an online-exclusive sub-brand. Known as Xingmang in China, the brand is testing its inaugural device – a Wide Candybar design similar to the Huawei Pura X View.

The leaked internal specifications point to a surprisingly powerful smartphone for a budget brand. The prototype allegedly packs a 6.39-inch display and a Kirin 9-series processor.

Leaks also mention up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal storage, likely for the maxed-out variant. Other details, including the phone's official name, camera capabilities, battery size and exact launch window, remain under wraps.

For those unaware, Huawei launched the Pura X View in China in September 2026. Its success was centred around its 16:9:5 form factor, but more importantly, its specifications. It boasts the same 6.39-inch 120 Hz OLED display and a very competitive 200 MP main camera alongside a 50 MP periscope lens.

Measuring just 6.7mm in thickness, the phone outdid most other bar phones with a 7,000mAh battery and, despite its size, measures just 201 grams. Overall, the phone sits at a unique juncture, appealing to users who want the convenience of a small phone but the wideness of a wide foldable screen.

Huawei has also yet to officially acknowledge the Starlight brand's existence. More information about the brand should drop in the coming months, so stay tuned.
