Summary

  • Huawei just announced the Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro, Pura 80+ and Pura 80 Ultra phones in China.
  • The Ultra stands out with its 50 MP + 12.5 MP dual switchable telephoto lenses.
  • Other key specs of the lineup include a 1-inch camera sensor, up to 5,700mAh battery and a 1.5K LTPO OLED display.

Huawei has finally launched its Pura 80 lineup in China on June 11, 2025. The series includes the Huawei Pura 80, Pura 80 Pro, Pura 80 Pro+, and Pura 80 Ultra. From a 1-inch sensor to switchable periscope lenses, the specs are all about advancements in the camera.

Before we begin, it is important to note that all four devices are mostly similar in terms of specifications. There are only minor differences, like in the cameras, the batteries, and so on. So, we will break it down into two broad categories.

Huawei Pura 80 Series: What's Similar?

Starting with the display, all four Pura 80 models sport the same 1.5K LTPO OLED display and are protected by Huawei's second-generation Kunlun glass.

Besides, all four Pura 80 devices ship with Huawei's in-house Harmony OS 5.1 NEXT. While the exact processor is not known, history is proof that Huawei might be using the same Kirin SoC for the entire lineup. Leaks hint at this processor being the Kirin 9020 SoC, although only time will reveal the exact chipset used.

Also, all four phones offer up to 1 TB of internal storage. There is a small difference in the RAM configuration which we will clarify in a bit.

Moving on to the optics, the Pura 80 Pros as well as the Ultra are equipped with the same 50 MP 1-inch primary rear camera sensor with OIS and autofocus support. Only the base Pura 80 misses out on the 1-inch sensor. It still comes with a 50 MP main camera with support for autofocus and OIS. The selfie camera has a 13 MP f/2.2 sensor, which is common across the board.

Lastly, some other areas where all four devices are similar include the IP68 + IP69 rating for dust and water resistance, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.2 support, satellite connectivity, GPS, NFC, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a USB Type-C 3.1 Gen 1 port.

With that out of the way, let's take a look at the differences.

Huawei Pura 80 Series: What's Different?

The biggest difference lies in the cameras. The Pura 80 Ultra stands out with the first of its kind, dual switchable telephoto lens setup. To achieve this, a 50 MP periscope lens is paired with a 12.5 MP telephoto camera, housed within a large circular module. They are joined by a 50 MP 1-inch primary and a 40 MP ultra-wide lens.

In the case of the Pura 80 Pro and the Pura 80 Pro+, as mentioned before, both devices feature the same main sensor as the Pura 80 Ultra. However, they also feature a 48 MP telephoto macro lens and another 40 MP ultrawide lens. And with the Pura 80, Huawei offers a 12 MP periscope camera and a 13 MP ultrawide camera alongside.

Now, while display tech remains the same across the lineup, only the vanilla Pura 80 features a 6.6-inch display. Meanwhile, all the other phones offer a bigger 6.8-inch panel.

Moving on, while the Pura 80 Pro+ and the Pura 80 Ultra ship with 16 GB of RAM, the other two are limited to 12 GB of RAM.

Coming to the battery department, apart from the Pura 80, all the other devices pack a 5,700mAh Lithium-Ion battery. They even support the same 100W wired and 80W wireless fast charging capabilities. Meanwhile, the Pura 80 ships with a smaller 5,600mAh battery and supports 66W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The only other difference between the phones is the design. The Pura 80 is the only device in the series that comes with a flat mid-frame and a flat camera module. All the other smartphones offer rounded edges and a multi-layered camera bump.
