As the OnePlus 16 launch date nears, the company is steadily confirming one spec after another. After revealing the OnePlus 16 camera details last week, OnePlus has now revealed how big the battery capacity is going to be and it is massive!
OnePlus 16 Gets a Massive Battery Upgrade
OnePlus 16 is confirmed to get a whopping 9,000mAh Glacier battery. Compared to last year's OnePlus 15, the upcoming flagship's battery is larger by 1,700mAh.
As confirmed by OnePlus executive Li Jie on Weibo, OnePlus 16 will also support 50W wireless fast charging, so even a quick charge will suffice for hours of screen time. Furthermore, OnePlus 16 will also get global bypass charging support, which will keep the device from heating up when you're charging and using it simultaneously.

The only info missing is the wired charging speed. But even without it, the battery upgrade alone changes the game for flagship-grade smartphones. Considering that the Galaxy S26 Ultra has a battery capacity of a mere 5,000mAh, OnePlus now has a big edge over its competition.
Given our experience with the Poco X8 Power (read our Poco X8 Power review here) and other 10,000mAh phones like the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, we expect OnePlus 16 to stretch comfortably into the third day too.

OnePlus 16 Specifications Confirmed so Far
While the OnePlus 16's battery capacity is one of its highlights, there are other noticeable upgrades too
The 200 MP main camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor and an f/1.6 aperture is just as big an upgrade. Alongside it, there's also a 50 MP 3x telephoto and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera. The selfie camera will also get a 50 MP sensor with autofocus.
Under the hood, the OnePlus 16 is powered by the newly launched Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage. The leaked OnePlus 16 AnTuTu scores hint at a beast of a device.
And to keep the whole system from throttling, OnePlus 16 has an improved Glacier cooling system to handle consistent 185 FPS gaming.
The phone will launch in China on October 12, 2026, at 17:00 CST (or 4:30 IST). It will come in three colourways: Tomorrow Starlight, Dark Forest, and Martian Masterpiece. It will also get four different RAM and storage variants: 12 GB + 256 GB, 12 GB + 512 GB, 16 GB + 512 GB, and 16 GB + 1 TB.
OnePlus 16 is gearing up to be one of the biggest launches this year and the bigger 2-3-day battery only adds to the overall hype. Now, all we're looking forward to is OnePlus defying the odds and bringing the flagship to India as well.
