Summary

  • OnePlus has made its next-gen gaming technology official, ahead of the OnePlus 15 launch in India.
  • The new OP Gaming Core tech brings features like 120 FPS stable frames and 80% better GPU rendering at chip-level.
  • A new three-chip strategy has also been introduced by featuring a dedicated network and touch chip alongside the SoC.

At a dedicated event in Singapore today, OnePlus has officially unveiled its latest OP Gaming Core tech. Slated to arrive with the upcoming OnePlus 15 in India, this new chip-level technology aims to offer a cohesive hardware and software integration for an elevated Android gaming experience.

OP Gaming Core uses system-level intelligence for flagship-level gaming experience

The self-developed OP Gaming Core tech from OnePlus aims to eliminate four key pain points for Android gamers: heating, lagging, battery drain, and choppy frame rates. With over 20,000 lines of original code and 254 patented gaming-optimisation features, this is the industry-first chip-level technology that addresses gaming performance at the core.

A dedicated OnePlus CPU Scheduler is tasked with systematically analysing heavy gaming workloads and optimising performance. The brand says that this will reduce the overall CPU load and power consumption by up to 22.74%. It uses an in-house developed energy consumption model to replace the Completely Fair Scheduler (CFS), which is what most smartphones use to allocate CPU resources for gaming.

Moreover, the OP Gaming Core features a reconstructed GPU rendering pipeline. What it means is that, with this tech, OnePlus phones will be able to improve the per-frame rendering efficiency by up to 80%. OnePlus claims that this new HyperRendering feature allows the OnePlus 15 to maintain stable frame rates of 120 FPS in games like Call of Duty (COD): Mobile, Genshin Impact and more. Additionally, a self-developed hybrid FPS solution will help the phone achieve up to 165 FPS in COD: Mobile.

Now, while the OP Gaming Core technology is a big leap for OnePlus, it will not work alone to redefine the Android gaming experience. A new three-chip hardware will enable the next generation of mobile gaming.

OnePlus has worked closely with Qualcomm to integrate the OP Gaming Core inside the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 out of the box for the OnePlus 15. It is complemented with a dedicated Touch Response Chip and a Wi-Fi G2 network chip.

As a result of this tri-chip approach, the OnePlus 15 is able to allocate processor resources dedicated to gaming, support up to 3,200 Hz of instantaneous touch sampling rate, and improve network connectivity in weak signal environments. This is done using advanced RF modules and network algorithms.

That said, this new gaming technology will first arrive with the OnePlus 15 in India. The smartphone is scheduled to go official on November 13, 2025. This is exactly 16 days since the OnePlus 15 China launch happened. We will make sure to test the smartphone out and report on the new OP Gaming Core technology from the brand.
