Summary

  • Oppo will officially introduce ColorOS 16 based on Android 16 in October 2025.
  • The new update is expected to bring several key changes like Live Updates in Fluid Cloud, Lock Screen Widgets and more.
  • The ColorOS 16 beta build will reportedly go live first for the Find X8 series and will later expand in mid-November 2025.

After ColorOS 15, it is now time for Oppo to welcome the Android 16-based ColorOS 16. The brand has officially confirmed its next OS refresh and when fans can expect the update to hit their Oppo devices.

Oppo's ColorOS Design Director, Chen Xi has revealed via Weibo that ColorOS 16 will officially launch in China in October 2025. According to him, Oppo will stick to its yearly OS revamp cycle and will introduce ColorOS 16 next month.

This falls in line with the brand's usual pattern and it's not surprising since ColorOS 15 was introduced on October 17, 2024. So, we expect Oppo to launch ColorOS 16 around that same time in 2025.

Xi notes that while the pressure and hype around ColorOS 16 are real, the brand is taking its sweet time polishing the next upgrade. He adds that a large part of the next ColorOS experience will be based on user feedback and suggestions.

We have never intended to be the first to launch a product. We don’t care when our competitors launch theirs, whether it’s earlier or later. We need to focus on our own products.

Hence, we expect the next ColorOS update to fix some of the most prominent issues with the current generation, like rapid battery drain, overheating, notification bugs and performance hits.

Apart from fixes, ColorOS 16 is also said to bring a host of new features and upgrades. While nothing is confirmed yet, we expect the upcoming update to bring a refined animation system and smooth visual effects, improved system responsiveness, an optimised UI and an overall enhanced user experience.

Expect the update to also carry forward some of Android 16's core features like Advanced Protection Mode, Live Updates in Fluid Cloud, Material 3 Expressive, lockscreen widgets, improved predictive back gestures and search in photo picker.

That said, ColorOS 16 is already under closed beta testing in China and India. At launch, expect the Oppo Find X8 series smartphones, like the Oppo Find X8, Oppo Find X8 Pro and the Oppo Find X8 Ultra to receive access to the first open beta update of ColorOS 16.

Afterwards, we can expect Oppo to roll out the update to other ColorOS 16 supported devices by the mid of November 2025.

That said, we will be sure to cover the ColorOS 16 release right here at Beebom Gadgets. So, stay tuned to this space.
