Vivo has initiated the internal beta recruitment phase for its highly anticipated OriginOS 7 update in China. The early access gives Vivo and iQOO users a chance to test the upcoming software update before its wider release, but its availability is strictly capped.
The official OriginOS Weibo account shared an image containing all the Vivo smartphones eligible for Android 17-based OriginOS 7 internal testing. The initial testing spans Vivo smartphones, including the Vivo X Fold6, X Fold5, Vivo X300 Ultra, X300 Pro, X300s, X300, X300 E, and the Pad6 Pro tablet.
The list of supported iQOO smartphones includes the iQOO 15 Ultra, 15, 15T, Neo 11, Neo 11 Ultra, and Pad6 Pro. It's worth noting that the application window is currently active and will close at 11:59 PM CST (or 9:29 PM IST) on September 13, 2026.
For those who make the cut, the first OTA update is scheduled to push out the following day, September 16, between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM CST (or 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM IST).
It is worth noting that each device model is limited to exactly 3,000 testers. These slots are split into two distinct tiers – 500 "Log" users and 2,500 standard testers.
For those unaware, the difference between them is that the "Log version" captures system fault data in the background to help engineers get rid of bugs. Due to its demanding nature, Vivo mentions that this tier is exclusively for experienced testers.
As with any early developer build, the company strongly advises users to back up their data before proceeding. Vivo and iQOO also warn users to look out for early bugs, potential battery drain, and third-party app issues.
To secure a spot, users must update their handset to the latest stable firmware and navigate to the "Test Upgrade" section within their system settings menu. That said, the upcoming Vivo X500 series should be the first to feature OriginOS 7 out of the box.
With testing now commencing, more information about the release timeline for all OriginOS 7-eligible smartphones should be announced soon, so stay tuned.
