Summary

  • Poco M8 5G design teased for India ahead of launch.
  • It features a dual-tone finish with carbon fibre-like strips and a squircle back camera island.
  • Poco M8 5G expected specs include a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and 6,500mAh battery.

Poco is gearing up to launch its brand-new M8 series in India. The lineup is expected to bring the standard Poco M8 and the Poco M8 Pro. Now, the brand has somewhat given us a glimpse into the design of the Poco M8 5G, and it looks very familiar.

Poco M8 5G will bring a racing-inspired look

The official X handle of Poco India has posted a short ten-second teaser video giving us a glimpse into the design of the Poco M8 5G. At the same time, the Flipkart microsite for the smartphone has also gone live with the 'Designed to Slay' tagline.

Based on the initial look, the smartphone appears to bear a dual-tone back design with a grey middle part and two black carbon fibre-inspired racing strips on the extreme ends. There is also a squircle rear camera deco at the top with two lenses, an LED Flash and a third decorative ring.

At first glance, the smartphone looks very close in design to the Redmi Note 15 series, which went official globally a short while back. It could very well launch as either a rebranded Redmi Note 15 or the Redmi Note 15 Pro.

This is because, a short while back, it was revealed that the Poco M8 Pro in India will be a rebranded Redmi Note 15 Pro+. The same speculation was also confirmed when several Poco M8 series renders leaked a short while back.

So, for the standard M8 5G, it makes sense for Poco to opt for either of the two remaining models. Having said that, here is what the new smartphone could offer:

  • Full HD+ 120 Hz AMOLED display
  • Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra
  • 7,000mAh battery and 45W fast USB-C charging
  • 50 MP main camera
  • IP68 rating
  • HyperOS 2 based on Android 15

That said, since nothing has been confirmed yet, take these details with a grain of salt. We will know more details soon, since the official Poco M8 series launch is expected to happen sometime in January 2026.
