The Moto G57 Power delivers excellent battery endurance, a set of capable cameras, a clean software and good performance all at a really affordable price. However, it compromises significantly on the media experience, with a dated LCD panel and average speakers. While the single-year update policy is limited, the phone is still an ideal choice for budget users, and it's easily one of the best sub-Rs 15,000 phones.

The Nothing Phone (3a) Lite is quite the dependable budget phone with its smooth software, bright AMOLED display and reliable battery backup. It handles pretty much everything, from regular multitasking to casual gaming, though stutters appear under heavier loads. The cameras are also not quite there and could certainly use some fine-tuning. While it's a solid daily driver, the cheaper CMF Phone 2 Pro offers a similar overall experience, leaving the (3a) Lite hard to justify.

The Vivo T5x is the equivalent of a one-eyed king in the land of the blind. It is a competent budget phone that gets a lot right, offering a durable build quality, reasonable performance, long battery life and a functional camera. But it fumbles big with an IPS LCD screen and a bloatware-infested OS that sours an otherwise acceptable spec sheet. It is not the best option out there. However, given the shrinking market of budget phones, it might just be the most practical one.

The Ai+ Nova 2 Ultra 5G proves that you don't need to spend more to get a good phone. It delivers on all the essentials and pushes the bar with its stunning 1.5K 120 Hz AMOLED display, good gaming, everyday performance and long battery life. However, the software is in dire need of some optimisation, along with the main camera. But its downsides can be overlooked by its impressive spec sheet, which is why it becomes the most value-for-money smartphone for me in 2026.

The Poco M8 looks great, offers a curved AMOLED screen, solid battery life, and fast charging. But its ageing chipset, average single camera, and cluttered HyperOS hold it back immensely. It is easily outmatched by its competitors in the segment, and feels like a weak entry into 2026 from the brand. It can be a decent buy, but only if it is heavily discounted; else there area a ton of better balanced phones out there.
