It's been less than three months since the launch of the Redmi K90 series, and rumours about the Redmi K100 series are surfacing. Following reports that Xiaomi 18 Pro could get a 200 MP camera, a new leak suggests the Redmi K100 series could also get the 200 MP camera upgrade, and the Poco F9 Ultra could follow.
Redmi K100 Series could pack in more megapixels
According to Smart Pikachu on Weibo, the Redmi K100 series could feature a 200 MP main camera. For those unaware, its predecessors, including the Redmi K90 Pro Max, have stuck to triple triple 50 MP sensors. The Redmi K100 series is expected to break this pattern.

Since this is a very early leak, it remains unclear whether this massive sensor will be used for the primary camera or as a high-resolution periscope telephoto unit. This could be a Samsung sensor, but we are not aware of the exact name of the same. Although, going by the current industry trends, it could be the Samsung HP5 sensor.
The upgrade will also extend to its direct cousin, the Poco F9 Ultra. For those unaware, the F9 Ultra could be a rebranded variant of the Redmi K100 Pro Max, just like the Redmi K90 Pro Max was rebranded to the Poco F8 Ultra.

Regardless, this is great news for smartphone buyers who were eyeing the K90 series but didn't pull the trigger due to the lack of a 200 MP sensor. This trajectory suggests that the Poco F9 Ultra could be the first phone from the brand with a 200 MP camera, while the Chinese Redmi version could arrive later.
Rumours point to a Q1 2027 launch window. Besides, key specifications of the smartphones are currently unknown. It could launch with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage in the base variant. Besides, we expect Redmi to bump up the battery capacity as per the trend to something close to 8,000mAh with 100W charging.

We also expect the Bose partnership to continue, featuring a 2.1 speaker setup in the Redmi K90 Pro series. More details about the smartphones should be revealed as time progresses, so stay tuned.
