Samsung's 2026 strategy has looked pretty simple so far, with the usual Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Z Fold 8 launch expected in Q2 2026. However, a new report sheds light on a potential third foldable smartphone bearing the codename H8, potentially also arriving in 2026.
Samsung H8 Mystery foldable spotted
Spotted first by Smartprix, new listings on the GSMA IMEI database suggest Samsung could be preparing a third foldable smartphone that could debut alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8. It's codenamed H8 and boasts a SKU number SM-971U.

This new smartphone is different from the Z Fold 8 and Flip 8's model number and code numbers SM-F976U (Q8) and SM-F776 (B8). The new foldable in question could potentially be the wide Galaxy Fold that Samsung is reportedly prepping to compete with the unique wide Apple iPhone Fold form factor.
Adding our two cents to this, we believe the new foldable's model number F971 confirms the book-style foldable form factor, as it's very similar to the Z Fold 8's F976. This means that the new foldable will be a book-style one, but with a different form factor.

The leak also confirms the existence of Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8. As expected, the standard flagships are undergoing testing for the US market as the SKUs end with "U". While it's a bit too early to talk about their specifications, we do know from prior reports that the Galaxy Z Flip 8 may boast Exynos 2600, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 could use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Samsung's crease-free OLED display was showcased at CES 2026, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Apple iPhone Fold could likely use the same technology. As for the launch date, if Samsung sticks to its traditional schedule, we can expect to see all the foldables unveiled in Galaxy Unpacked in July or August 2026.
More information about this new foldable smartphone should start surfacing as we inch closer to launch, so stay tuned.
