Samsung's Galaxy S27 series could bring major camera upgrades next year. A new leak suggests that the lineup may switch to Sony main cameras and introduce improved telephoto, ultrawide and selfie cameras.
According to a new report from GalaxyClub, Samsung may be replacing its in-house ISOCELL main camera sensors with 50 MP Sony sensors on the Samsung Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+. While the primary shooter could see this major revamp, the ultrawide camera on the two models will reportedly stick to a more modest 12 MP lens.

However, the higher-end Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra and the Galaxy S27 Pro are tipped to receive the most upgrades. Both are expected to arrive with a 50 MP Telephoto snapper alongside a new 50 MP ultrawide shooter. Besides, both smartphones will seemingly feature a 16 MP front camera, rumoured to be an iPhone-like Centre Stage unit.
This would make Samsung the first Android manufacturer to copy Apple's brilliant square sensor, allowing users to capture in both 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios. It may also feature AI tracking capabilities, allowing the camera to track subjects as they move.
These details from the latest report build on an earlier Galaxy S27 camera leak that revealed the lineup's internal codenames and front camera details.

However, cameras are not the only area of improvement, as Samsung could bring its Privacy Display to the Galaxy S27 and S27+ as well. For those unaware, this technology acts as a hardware implementation of a privacy screen guard and prevents people from peeping into your phone screen's contents. It first debuted with the Galaxy S26 Ultra last year.
As we are only midway through 2026, it is still very early in the development cycle, meaning these specifications could easily change before mass production begins.
The four-phone lineup is expected to debut in early 2027, likely between January and March. Other details such as the battery, processor and design are still under wraps, but more should be unveiled as we inch closer to launch, so stay tuned.
