One of the main additions to the Galaxy S26 Ultra was the Privacy Display, but the same didn't make it to the standard Galaxy S26 and S26+. Well, that could change as a new report from The Elec suggests that the entire Samsung Galaxy S27 series could feature the Privacy Display technology.
Samsung's Privacy Display May No Longer Be an Ultra-Exclusive Feature
As per the report, all four models in the Galaxy S27 family are expected to get Privacy Display. Initially rumoured to be limited to the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra and the new Galaxy S27 Pro model, the vanilla Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ could also inherit it. If true, this could be a significant win for consumers.

Interestingly, the report suggests that this initially wasn't supposed to happen. Samsung was reportedly exploring sourcing BOE displays for the Galaxy S27 as a cost-saving measure. However, the deal reportedly fell through, so even the base variants will use Samsung panels with the integrated tech instead.
For those wondering how the Galaxy S26 Ultra privacy display works, it essentially uses the concept of digital blinds, which manipulate light using a Liquid Crystal layer, creating a refractive mismatch that traps the light from leaking to the sides via Total Internal Reflection.

However, it's not just the upcoming Galaxy S27 series which could get the technology. Reports also suggest Xiaomi could use the Privacy Display tech on the Xiaomi 18 Pro. Additionally, Oppo, Vivo and Honor are also reportedly exploring the technology.
That said, there's still a long road ahead for the Galaxy S27 series launch. Samsung is now focused on launching the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8, which are expected to launch at a Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22, 2026. Until then, stay tuned.
