Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at Galaxy Unpacked 2026 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8. Instead of chasing bigger screens, Samsung has reworked the foldable into a wider, passport-style device that feels more like a conventional smartphone when closed. It's also the brand's lightest and slimmest foldable phone yet.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Specifications and Features
Starting with the design, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is Samsung's first foldable with a passport-style form factor. It weighs just 201 grams and measures 4.5 mm when unfolded (9.7mm folded), standing as the brand's lightest and slimmest standard Fold to date.
The chassis features an IP48 rating, while the folding panel incorporates the Samsung Flex Titanium display technology. The titanium-alloy structure features a thin Titanium sheet instead of adhesive to eliminate the display crease. Besides, Samsung claims it can also absorb impact and minimise crease visibility over time.
Display-wise, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 sports a 5.5-inch 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover screen with a 10:16 aspect ratio. Unfolding the device reveals a 7.6-inch 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, reaching up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness.
Under the hood, the foldable is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Camera hardware includes a dual 50MP rear setup, main wide sensor with OIS and an ultra-wide lens, alongside twin 10MP selfie cameras.
Fueling the internals is a 4,800mAh dual-cell battery with 45W fast wired charging and 20W wireless charging support. Connectivity-wise, it features a USB 3.2 Type-C port, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and NFC, while the security is handled by a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
On the software side, it boots Android 17-based One UI 9 features out of the box and is the first to bring Gemini Intelligence out of the box. This includes new features like Now Brief summaries, Now Nudge, and enhanced Knox security protections.
