Ahead of the official Galaxy Z Fold 8 series launch next week, Samsung Electronics has officially announced the Flex Titanium display technology. The new technology will feature a redesigned display structure combined with a fresh internal hinge structure to deliver a flatter, creaseless panel for its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra foldables.

Samsung Explains How Flex Titanium Display Works

In a recent press release, the brand delves into how Flex Titanium makes the display crease non-existent. To achieve this, Samsung is integrating two separate titanium components beneath the OLED layer, consisting of a titanium alloy film and a titanium support plate.

The titanium-alloy film is positioned directly under the OLED panel, with Samsung claiming it provides 20 times the mechanical stiffness of traditional polymer films. Samsung engineers used a precision rolling process to shave the film down to just one-third of the thickness of a human hair to keep the overall chassis thin, which is impressive.

Additionally, the Titanium plate is situated at the base of the display module, and it uses micro-patterned holes in the folding region. The patterns allow the rigid metal to bend seamlessly during repeated folding, while also providing solid support when the phone is completely flat.

Thanks to these changes, the visible indentation on the screen is greatly reduced, which we rightfully saw in one of the recent Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra live video leaks. Additionally, Samsung is pairing the folding hardware with its next-generation display to not only enhance the resolution but also slash power consumption.

This announcement arrives a week before the Galaxy Unpacked 2026, which is set for July 22, 2026. We should hear more about the displays when Samsung announces the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 8 on stage. Until then, stay tuned.
