2026 is the year when foldables are heading into a new phase and it's all about the wide form factor. As usual, Samsung has decided to join the party and we already know the brand is working on a passport-sized folding phone. Now, the first traces of them turning to reality emerge as the design of the alleged Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 have been spotted within a One UI 9 build.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Design Spotted in One UI 9
The folks over at Android Authority managed to dig deeper into a One UI 9 build to spot the alleged design of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide and the Galaxy Z Fold 8. They are codenamed H8 and Q8, respectively.

Starting with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, this is obviously going to become the star of the show this year and as it is evident from the above image, Samsung is indeed in the final stages of bringing this passport-shaped foldable to life. It closely matches the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide dummy unit leaks which were circulating online last week.
They confirm the dual camera pill-shaped island as well as the iPad-like aspect ratio when opened. However, it is important to note that unlike those, the new design clearly doesn't show off the MagSafe charging ring present on the dummy units. It could be that since these are internal design mockups for documentation they are not that detailed, but it is interesting to note the discrepancy.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Design in One UI 9 Doesn't Appear To Be All Too Different
As for the Galaxy Z Fold 8, there isn't much to talk about. It looks identical to the last year's Galaxy Z Fold 7 and feature the same tall and rectangular aspect ratio that almost every folding phone has come to adopt. It is also expected to bring the same triple lens setup and the pill-shaped camera island.

Also, in the Galaxy Z Fold 8's image as well, we do not see the MagSafe ring present on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 dummy unit. With the Galaxy S26 series skipping Qi2 charging officially, nothing can be said at this time.
That said, this year it is clear that Samsung is more focused towards the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, which is expected to go official at its summer foldable event. Specs could include an iPad-like 7.6-inch folding display and a 5.4-inch cover screen. The phone could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and sport a 5,000mAh battery inside. However, we will know more soon once the phone goes official. So, stay tuned.
