Foldables are heading into a new phase and it's not just about thinner designs anymore, as the new wide form factor is becoming the next big thing. Huawei has even gone a step up with the Huawei Pura X Max launch in China as the world's first wide foldable and Samsung appears to be next in line. Fresh leaks have surfaced, giving us our first look at the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 d Wide dummy unit.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Dummy Unit Leaked
Reliable tipster Sonny Dickson has shared two images on X, revealing the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide dummy unit, nestled between the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8. While they look incomplete and unfinished, we still get a clear idea of what the final design will look like upon release.

Starting with the first-ever wide foldable from Samsung, it resembles the recently leaked Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide renders with its passport-like short and wide form and pill-shaped vertical dual cameras. However, the most interesting bit is the addition of a circular cutout at the back, presumably for wireless charging.
If true, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide might gain native magnets to unlock Qi2 wireless charging. It seems sensible since the upcoming wide foldable will be positioned higher than the Galaxy Z Fold 8, potentially making it the second most expensive Galaxy foldable right below the Galaxy Z TriFold. However, it's hard to confirm until more details come out.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 Could Also Gain MagSafe Charging
Now coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8, even though they look identical to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, here as well, the biggest addition could arrive in the form of support for Qi2 magnetic wireless charging.

With the Galaxy S26 series skipping Qi2 charging officially, it makes sense for Samsung to start the trend of native magnetic wireless charging with its folding phones. However, it is best not to get our hopes too high since these are still dummy units and the South Korean brand has a habit of shuffling things up at the last minute.
That said, this year it is clear that all eyes are on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, which is expected to go official at Samsung's summer foldable event. Specs could include an iPad-like 7.6-inch folding display and a 5.4-inch cover screen. The phone could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and sport a 5,000mAh battery inside.
