2026 so far has been the year of disappointment for smartphone buyers in India, especially in the affordable and mid-range segment. Brands have been either hiking prices of existing models or launching new phones with minimal spec bump but maximum price hike. Now, the latest trend in this category is launching a phone with an already high price and then quietly increasing further in just few days.
Vivo T5x 5G price in India to go up by Rs 2,000 starting next month
The development comes after reliable tipster, Sanju Choudhary, leaked an internal price revision document from Vivo on X. It mentions a price hike for the 15-day-old Vivo T5x 5G in India, effective from April 1, 2026. For context, the phone launched on March 17, 2026 and went on sale on March 24, 2026. So, keeping the sale date in mind, it has been exactly seven days since the phone went into the market.

As for the new prices that are expected to go live from tomorrow, here is a clear distinction between the current and alleged new pricing for each RAM and storage variant for ease of understanding:
| RAM and Storage | Current Price | New Price (Leaked) |
|---|---|---|
| 6 GB + 128 GB | Rs 18,999 | Rs 20,999 |
| 8 GB + 128 GB | Rs 20,999 | Rs 22,999 |
| 8 GB + 256 GB | Rs 22,999 | Rs 24,999 |
If the report is to be believed, Vivo could hike every RAM and storage configuration of the T5x 5G by Rs 2,000 extra. If this in indeed the truth, today, March 31, 2026 could the last day to purchase the Vivo T5x at the Rs 18,999 starting price. Even at its current price, it is a hard pill to swallow. However, with the proposed push-up, Vivo T5x 5G essentially falls into the "hard to recommend" territory.
Also, an important thing to note is that the document states, "this communication is issued strictly for information and operational alignment purposes". It further elaborated under the first bulleted point that "the RRP (Recommended Retail Price) is indicative and non-binding in nature".
This begs an important question: Is the proposed price hike not mandatory? If this is the case, then the responsibility of hiking the price is reserved solely on the retailer (both e-commerce and offline). This could put Vivo out of harms way in terms of accountability and responsibility.
That said, at the time of writing, we are not sure if this is an actual document sent to retailers or not. We checked on Flipkart and the Vivo India e-store and the starting price of Vivo T5x 5G is currently at Rs 18,999. Hence, if we are able to spot any changes tomorrow, we will be sure to update this space with the latest development.
