Vivo has finally lifted the veil off of its latest book-style foldable phone, the X Fold 5 in China. The device combines a high-end chipset with a massive battery on a foldable for the first time, setting a new standard for the next generation of foldable phones. Let's have a look at the detailed specifications, the pricing and availability details of the Vivo X Fold 5.
Vivo X Fold 5 Specifications and Features
The Vivo X Fold 5 is the first foldable smartphone to come with a 6,000mAh battery. Vivo is using a silicon carbon battery to achieve this. The total capacity is split between two individual battery units, housed inside each of the folding halves.
It comes with support for 80W wired fast charging as well as 40W wireless charging. The device can also charge other devices wirelessly thanks to support for Reverse Wireless Charging.

Coming to the displays, the inner foldable unit is an 8.03-inch 8T 120Hz LTPO flexible AMOLED panel. The outer screen is a 6.53-inch 8T 120Hz LTPO AMOLED panel. Both displays can reach up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness.
It is also sleek at just 4.3mm thickness when unfolded and 9.2mm when folded. With the X Fold 5, Vivo is banking big on durability. For instance, the outer display has a nano-crystal coating to improve its scratch resistance. Meanwhile, the hinge is made up of carbon fibre. It also features IPX8+IPX9+IPX9+ and IP5X ratings for water and dust resistance. It is also lightweight at 217 grams.

On the optics front, the X Fold 5 continues the Vivo Zeiss partnership with a triple rear camera setup. It offers a 50 MP primary Sony IMX921 sensor with autofocus and OIS, a 50 MP periscope telephoto Sony IMX882 lens, and a 50 MP ultra-wide angle lens with autofocus. The camera module also features the Zeiss T* Lens coating to reduce flares and glares. Coming to the selfie camera, both offer a 20 MP shooter.

Under the hood, there is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC running the show, and it can be paired with up to 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
On the software side, the X Fold 5 runs on Origin OS 5 based on Android 15. Apart from the usual customisation options and AI-based features, the brand confirmed integration with Apple's devices and services. The X Fold 5 will be able to seamlessly sync with Apple's AirPods, Apple Watch and iCloud, making the foldable more versatile.
Apart from this, the Vivo X Fold 5 features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 port.
