2026 is shaping up to be an evolutionary year for foldable phones and while all eyes are on Samsung and Apple, the Vivo X Fold 6 could emerge as the underdog. It is now confirmed to launch in China very soon and some official details are already out.
Vivo X Fold 6 China Launch Confirmed
The latest Weibo post from Vivo's product manager, Han Boxiao, has revealed that the Vivo X Fold 6 is launching this month in China. Vivo claims it to be a "significant upgrade" over the Vivo X Fold 5, with a heavy focus on software this time around.

The upcoming foldable phone will run on a modified version of OriginOS 6 update and will be called OriginOS 6 Fold. Boxiao explains that the OS is fine-tuned for the large foldable screen, especially for multitasking. A large part of this upgrade will arrive with Atomic Workbench, Vivo's productivity suite for foldables.
With Atomic Workbench, the Vivo X Fold 6 will be able to run five different apps simultaneously, giving users a seamless multitasking experience. It is an upgrade over the four-app multi-screen feature on the Vivo X Fold 5 and is a clear step up over OnePlus' Open Canvas implementation.

Users will also be able to create dedicated workspaces by combining their apps of desire to create a quick launch multi-tasking screen with a single click. Boxiao explains that it could be done for activities like meetings, travel plans, finances and more.
The phone will even feature a dedicated Workbench mode, whose details are still under wraps. Lastly, Boxiao has confirmed that the Vivo X Fold 6 will have better on-device AI capabilities and is made possible by optimising the software at the system level and efficient chip resource management.
Vivo X Fold 6 Specifications (Leaked)
While Boxiao's post has not revealed any of the core details of the folding phone, a recent Vivo X Fold 6 specs leak report has revealed a lot of its key specs. As per that, the biggest upgrade/change this year is said to arrive in the form of the Dimensity 9500 chipset instead of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor.
It is said to feature an 8.02-inch folding display with a 6.53-inch cover screen. As for the rest, the X Fold 6 is also expected to ship with a 200 MP main camera, a 50 MP pericope sensor and a large 7,000mAh battery.
That said, since the first official teaser of the X Fold 6 is now out, we should hear more from Boxiao shortly. It will be interesting to see how it fares against the likes of the Oppo Find N6 and the upcoming passport-like foldables from Samsung and Apple. So, stay tuned.
